As one fo the best adventure destinations in the world, Nepal offers several varities of activities for the adventuruous travellers. I am not going to write about Nepal or promote any agencies in Nepal, but state some of the activities offered in Nepal.
The most common adventure in Nepal is Trekking. Trekking has to be one of the best, if not, the best way to experience Nepal. Although you can possibly trek throughout the year, it is best during spring and autumn. Trekking along beaten trails or virgin tracks through dense forests and mountain ridges with the breathtaking Himalayas in the backdrop, you will certainly have an experience of a lifetime that will make you wanting to keep coming back to Nepal.
The other common and specialised adventure is Mountaineering. Since Nepal opened its peaks for climbing in 1949, thousands of men and women have attempted the ultimate challenge of the Himalayas. Nepal has eight peaks that are above 8,000 meters including Mount Everest, the highest in the world.
Rafting, is offered on world class white water rivers in Nepal. The numerous rivers offer rafters of any class a thrilling challenge with 10 rivers open for rafting by the government, the most popular being the Trisuli River (Grade 3+). The rivers winds through remote canyons, deep gorges and glide calmly with magnificent scenery.
Jungle Safari is availalbe in the National Parks located specially in the Terai region which attracts visitors from all over the world. The safari usually involves game staking by foot, dugout canoe, jeep or elephant back. With so many wildlife around and habited by the Royal Bengal Tiger, the experience will be unforgettable.
Recent years has seen more and more adventures being offered in Nepal. Government registered agencies offer adventures such as kayaking, canyoning, mountain biking, rock climbing, bungee jumping and paragliding. Other than mountain flight, one can also hop on an ultralight aircraft that offers spectacular views of mountains, lakes and villages.
